Chelation Therapy

What is Chelation Therapy?

In chelation therapy, a medication called ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is delivered into your bloodstream through an intravenous (IV) line. This medication seeks out and binds to toxic metals  in your bloodstream. Once the medication binds, it creates a compound that is able to be eliminated in your urine, thus clearing toxic metals from your body.

Who needs Chelation Treatment?

In our modern world, we are constantly exposed to toxins from everything we eat, use, and do. From hygiene products, to foods, and even medications that are prescribed to us! The presence of these chemicals drains the body’s clearing house (primarily the liver) and over time, the clean-up process slows down. As a result, there is increased accumulation of toxins in our cells  – especially fat cells.

This puts a constant strain on our system.  Thus, Chelation therapy is not only for people that have tested positive for toxic metals on a blood or urine test, but is beneficial for anyone dealing with chronic illness.

During a 6 year retrospective study of 470 patients in Denmark who received EDTA - 65 of whom were on a waiting list to get CABG - only 7 needed the procedure after chelation therapy. Of the 27 patients scheduled for amputation due to peripheral vascular disease, only 3 needed surgery after chelation.
