IV Therapy: Dr. Iduna Gives Simple Answers to Some Important Questions

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about the benefits of IV Therapy and many people have questions.  How does IV Therapy work?  What are the uses of IV Therapy?  How do I know if I need it?  Does IV Therapy actually work at all?

As a medical doctor with almost 30 years of experience, I’ve seen a lot of health therapy fads come and go.  And, I can understand why people get confused about what alternative therapies are legitimate and which are phony.  In my Woodstock, IL practice I specialize in providing IV Therapy treatments and I’d like to answer some common questions from a practicing medical doctor’s point of view.

What is IV Therapy?

Many people have heard the terms IV Therapy, IV Hydration Therapy, IV Nutritional Therapy and others but they don’t necessarily know what they mean.

All of these terms are referring to a medical treatment where the patient receives high doses of vitamins, nutrients and fluids directly into the bloodstream.  Because IV Therapy (short for Intravenous Therapy by the way) bypasses the digestive system, the body is able to utilize the vitamins and nutrients much more effectively, without losing a lot of it due to malabsorption or leaky gut.

What are the benefits of IV Therapy?

IV Therapy has many potential benefits.  Hypertension, chronic stress or chronic fatigue, latent-active Epstein Barr, autoimmune disorders, migraine headaches or even the flu are all conditions that drive people to seek out IV Therapy treatments.

It is also becoming increasingly common for people with cancer to turn to IV Therapy and high-dose Vitamin C as an adjunct treatment to radiation and chemo therapy.

Even if you are not facing conditions quite so serious as these, many people use IV Therapy simply to improve their energy and focus and to ensure their bodies are receiving adequate amounts of vital nutrients that may be difficult to get solely from food.

IV Therapy can also be used for adrenal support.

Who administers the IV Therapy treatments? Can anyone do this?

While there are many options when looking for an IV Therapy provider, there can be a big difference between going to a commercial-style medi spa and a traditional, licensed medical practice like Enliven Me.

In addition to my IV Therapy practice, I am also a very active ER Medical Doctor who practices standard, allopathic medicine as well.  I received my training at Yale University and fully understand when a patient can benefit from alternative treatments like IV Therapy and when they need the attention of traditional medicine.

This is a significant difference.  With IV Therapy becoming a booming industry, it can be very tempting for doctors and nurses to push only the hottest fad treatments.  That’s why it’s important to seek out an experienced medical doctor that knows the full spectrum of healing and all the options available.  Because there may very well be a condition you come in with that won’t be best served by an alternative treatment like IV Therapy and you need to be able to trust the practitioner you’re visiting to help you make the best decisions.

How much does IV Therapy cost?

As with any medical treatment, people are often concerned about the cost of IV Therapy.  Prices do vary depending on the exact nutritional protocol being followed but we have gone to great lengths to make treatments affordable, with some of our services like B12 and Vitamin D injections costing as little as $20.  We also offer very competitive package deals such as our buy 5, get one for free offers.  You will have to call around to find the prices at other facilities.

If cost is a concern, please remember that at Enliven Me your initial 15 minute consultation is always free so you can explore your options in a stress free way without any risk.

I hope that helps clear up some of the questions you had about the benefits of IV Therapy.  Please contact our office directly at 815-355-1605 if you would like to look into seeing if this option is right for you.

    1. Hi.
The banana bag is something we give in the hospital to patients with alcoholism, deficient in B12, which makes the bag yellow, hence the name.

The IV’s that I am talking about are way more than that and also specifically targeted to the problems and the nutritional deficiencies associated. Most of them also have some amount of Vitamin C, low or high dose, depending on the need as it is a key element in stress and adrenal function and any disease is a stress on the body and thus the adrenals. Hope this helps.

  1. I had gone to a nutritionist that had administered vitamin injections because I don’t digest pills. I have Barret’s disease, suffer from depression, borderline diabetic, high cholesterol and blood pressure. I also have difficulty going to the bathroom on a regular basis. Supplements do not seem to help. I have no energy and never feel I have enough sleep.

    1. Hi
Wow, that’s a lot to be dealing with. The good news though is that you don’t have to live and suffer like this. We can definitely help you.

How about you give our office a call?
